ARTIST: ALAN CHAN
TITLE: A BOWL OF RICE FITS PEOPLE OF ALL KINDS
MEDIUM: WOOD AND CHOPSTICKS
LOCATION: SEIBU, PACIFIC PLACE

This artwork features a typical Asian bowl for rice as well as many chopsticks. The set-up of the whole piece is specially arranged in order to illustrate a famous Chinese saying. All these elements: a pair of chopsticks and a small bowl have constituted a very simple art of “eating” - an act that our forefathers, you and I have indulged so much of our time in not just for survival needs but also for sensuous enjoyment. To the Chinese people, “eating” is an extremely important aspect in their daily life. Their respect for food is just the same as they esteem the sacred Heaven.
