ARTIST: CORRIN CHAN
TITLE: TUEN MUN IS AN OFFSPIN
MEDIUM: CONCRETE, STAINLESS STEEL,GLASS, FIBER OPTICS
LOCATION: OFFSPIN, TUEN MUN TOWN PLAZA

A long time ago, Tuen Mun had a river, fields, trees, fishing and farming villages. It was a fortified entrance, a strategic garrison for the suppression of individuals and outlaws.

“Tuen Mun” means the door and the station of soldiers. Tuen Mun has changed from a place with long history into a modern new town with a high percentage of family break-ups, delinquency and social problems. These are reflections of deeper problems.

Chris is a boy who grew up in Tuen Mun. Andrew is a Town-Planner living in Pokfulam. They are put together in a shop window.

“Tuen Mun is an Offspin” is an attempt to explore the relationships between art installation, city planning, architecture, social problems and shopping.
