This installation is displayed in the shop window of the young, casual and fashionable shoes shop, OFFSPIN, which is located in this busy Kowloon shopping mall. It is the 4th work in the "Pledge" series, which deals with the notions of illusions and promises. "The Lover's Diary of Seduction" juxtaposes the showing of various products with the showing of another production in the name of art. Philips is the sponsor of the six LCD monitors and these are shown as an art product. The messages in the monitors are advertising and brand names. Another meaning of the work is the "pledge" of consumerism. One of the displayed Pledge cans is a safe made to look like the household product, Pledge (a furniture wax). |
